In March, STV announced plans to hold a Scottish election debate for the UK General Election. The debate, was held on the 7 April 2015, between the four main parties in Scotland: First Minister Nicola Sturgeon from the SNP; leader of the Scottish Labour Party Jim Murphy MP; Scottish Conservative leader, Ruth Davidson MSP; and Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP.

Unlike the ITV debate the week previously, the format was more of a town hall debate, where questions were given by the audience, and people were able to interact far more with the leaders including clapping and making their unhappiness known.
