BBC News After Noon was introduced on 7 September 1981, providing a full 30 min news bulletin at lunchtime. This new bulletin replaced the BBC Midday News. Presented by Richard Whitmore, he was joined by a number of other presenters including Anne Diamond, Frances Coverdale Sue Carpenter and Moira Stuart.
