On 9 January 1989, a separate South Midlands edition of Central News for Oxfordshire, Herefordshire, Buckinghamshire, the Swindon area and northern Gloucestershire was launched from Abingdon.

A new look for Central News South was unveiled on 2 February 2004, to coincide with the relaunch of all ITV News programmes.
ITV unveiled a new corporate logo to most of its channels and services on 16 January 2006. Most regional programmes underwent a refresh at this time.
Thames Valley Tonight was a regional news programme broadcast to part of the ITV Network in the Thames Valley area of southern England.
ITV News went widescreen on 2 December 2007. Most ITV regional news programmes made slight alterations to the graphics used on their programmes.
