ITV News Tyne Tees is a regional television news and current affairs programme, produced by ITV Tyne Tees & Border from its studios in Gateshead, and serving County Durham, North Yorkshire, Northumberland, Teesside and Tyne and Wear.
A new look for Northern Life was launched in 1988. It was to be the last look to use the Northern Life name, as it was phased out in 1992.
On Monday 2nd September 1996 following the defection of the popular Mike Neville to Tyne Tees from the BBC's Look North after 32 years, North East Tonight was launched, replacing two separate news services and a lifestyle programme.
A new look to North East Tonight was unveiled on the 4th October 2000.
A new set and titles for North East Tonight on 30 September 2002. New graphics were again unveiled on 6 January 2003.
North East Tonight (together with Lookaround) became the seventh ITV plc regional news programme to adopt the new ITV News branding for their bulletins, on Thursday 10 December 2009.
All ITV regional news programmes in England and Wales adopted the new ITV corporate branding on Monday, 14 January 2013. North East Tonight was renamed 'ITV News Tyne Tees'.
ITV News Tyne Tees launched a new studio on Sunday 5th July 2015.
Broadcasting from the Pontop Pike and Chatton transmitters to viewers in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear.
Broadcasting from the Bilsdale transmitter to viewers in County Durham, North Yorkshire and the Tees Valley.
