BBC Alba is a joint venture between the BBC and MG Alba, launched on 19 September 2008.

BBC Alba is a Gaelic-language service broadcast across the UK on digital satellite.  It broadcasts seven days a week, between 5pm and around midnight.  During its downtime, the Gaelic language radio station, Radio nan Gàidheal, broadcasts on the station over information screens.

Prior to the creation of the digital channel in 2008, BBC Alba was used as local branding for all Gaelic programming broadcast on BBC One and Two Scotland. Since 2011 all Gaelic programming was switched over to BBC Alba.

The current presentation was created by Design Is Central.
