ITV1 Wales: January-November 2006

On 16 January 2006, a new logo was created for use on ITV channels.  This opportunity was also taken to centralise continuity with the London team finally for all ITV plc stations, meaning the locally-voiced continuity for ITV1 Wales (albeit recorded and played out by the South Bank for some time hence) finally came to an end.

The new ‘Emotion’ idents, created by Red Bee Media, lasted only for 10 months, however special versions were created for transmission on ITV1 Wales, before all programmes.  Also, for the first time, this branding continued throught the night — whereas before, locally branded idents ended with the last junction featuring locally-voiced continuity, usually around midnight.  Effort was still made in creating Wales-branded break bumpers, series teasers and promos, however the inevitable erosion of local identity for Welsh viewers visibly moved on with this 2006 relaunch.
