HTV, now legally known as ITV Wales & West, is the ITV contractor for Wales and the West of England, which operated from studios in Cardiff and Bristol. The company provided commercial television for the dual-region ‘Wales and West’ franchise, which it won from TWW in 1968. Originally styled Harlech Television the name was changed to HTV within the first two years. The franchise is now owned and operated by ITV plc under the name ITV Broadcasting Limited.

On January 1st 1993, HTV launched a new look and unveiled a new logo.

Initially, HTV adopted the blue ITV Hearts on November 7th 1999, but following GMG’s purchase of UNM (owner of Anglia, Meridian and HTV) the HTV franchise was given to Carlton as GMG would have controlled more franchises than the ITC would allow.

HTV finally started a night time service launching on 22 August 1988.
