UTV (formerly Ulster Television) is a commercial television broadcaster in Northern Ireland owned and operated by ITV plc (previously UTV Media plc, now known as Wireless Group plc) as part of the UK-wide ITV Network. Formed in November 1958 and appointed as programme contractor for the Independent Television Authority soon after, UTV was the first indigenous broadcaster in Northern Ireland.
On 19 October 2015, it was announced UTV, along with UTV Ireland would be sold to ITV plc for £100 million. The sale was finalized on 29 February 2016.
